The National Air Cadet 75th Anniversary Torch Relay comes to Warwickshire!

The official handover from 1368 Warwick Squadron was undertaken by FS Yew Booth to 1289 Squadron's FS Thornton at Shakespeare's Birthplace where it was then transported to Wellesbourne Airfield for a photo opportunity with Avro Vulcan XM655 the last taxiing Vulcan. 

The torch was met by 496 Kenilworth and 2028 Southam Squadrons as well as OC Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing Wg Cdr Stuart Iles and Wing Staff Officers Sqn Ldr Bob Foster and Sqn Ldr Neil Watson.

Cadets and staff got the opportunity to look around the cockpit of the Vulcan with the support from the dedicated volunteers from Vulcan XM655 MAPS preservation society.Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing ATC would like to extend our thanks to the volunteers from XM655 who gave up their time early morning to come in and show the cadets and staff around and also to Michael Littler Airfield Manager at Wellesbourne Airfield for allowing us access airside for the photo opportunity.The torch departed Wellesbourne Airfield for Bruntingthorpe Airfield where it was handed over to South and East Midlands Wing.
